Vaginal yeast infections are caused by overgrowth of Candida albicans type of yeast found in the vagina. This organism is normally found in small quantities in the vagina, mouth, digestive tract and skin. Women of all ages can get yeast infections. Throughout life, 75% of all women who could have at least one vaginal yeast infection and up to 45% have two or more.

Vaginal yeast infections may be confused with other conditions such as bacterial vaginosis, other infectious vaginitis and trichomoniasis. Of these three conditions, trichomoniasis is the only one for a sexually transmitted disease.

Women tend to be more prone to vaginal yeast infections if their bodies are under stress due to poor diet, illness, lack of sleep and when you take antibiotics or medicines, corticosteroids. Other common triggers include pregnancy, diabetes, steroids, birth control pills, pH balance, and obesity.

Vaginal yeast infections can also occur as a result of internal vaginal injury, such as after chemotherapy. Also, women with suppressed immune systems (such as those taking cortisone-related medicines such as prednisone) develop vaginal yeast infections (yeast vaginitis) more often than women with normal immunity.

Symptoms of vaginal yeast infection include redness, burning, itching and irritation of the vaginal area. Swelling of the vulva may be present in serious cases, swelling and painful urination and may be more frequent. Sometimes there is a yellow-green frothy vaginal discharge, which may have a bad odor, but not always.

Treatments for yeast infections include prescription and over-the-counter medications. Pills, taken orally, requiring a prescription. Length of treatment varies depending on the vaginal medication you use. Single-day treatments are stronger and more comfortable.

If you are pregnant, do not use antifungal medication pills that you take by mouth.

I was looking for a yeast infection cure for some time, and there is hardly supplement, vitamin or without Candida diet technique that I met. Here is the message I tried and my results.

Women who have more yeast infections in the course of one year vary familiar with the symptoms of yeast infection, and may be able to buy over-the-counter drugs for this form of vaginitis to clear. Length of treatment varies depending on the vaginal medication you use. Single-day treatments are stronger and more comfortable.

Common yeast infection cure

Antifungal drugs such as clotrimazole or tioconazole, are the most common yeast infection cure. These medicines can be applied to the affected area as a cream, a pill taken orally or inserted into the vagina. Antibiotics kill the yeast infection, but they do more harm to others.

Monist once available only by prescription and the “gold standard” in treating yeast infection. It’s exactly the same pattern previously-prescribed Monist and comes in cream or suppository. Monist, ThreeLac, and many other standard treatments took several days to treat yeast infections. Painful itching, irritation and discomfort may be felt weeks, days!

Diflucan can help you. Levitra is a medicine used to treat oral vaginal and urinary esophagus or other organs caused by infection by the fungus Candida. The recommended dose diflucan to treat yeast infections in adults is a single dose of 150 milligrams (mg). Your doctor may prescribe oral fluconazole diflucan as treatment.

Natural yeast infection Cure

Although the-counter and prescribed medications-are readily available, those seeking a more permanent solution, are now turning to natural yeast infection cure. Natural remedies include yogurt, cider vinegar, acidophilus, probiotics, Pau d’Arco tea and boric acid (toxic substances and should never be ingested orally or placed on open wounds).

Tea Tree Oil is a known natural antifungal. It is widely used for yeast infection, along with olive oil applied to the affected area as cure yeast infection.

Garlic was also known to help, because it contains natural substances that kill off yeast fungal, and by 1-2 tablets a day may help symptoms of yeast infection subsides. During the third trimester, women may suffer more yeast infection pregnancy. During this quarter, excessive hormonal fluctuations mean the female body pH will change and can become a breeding ground for candida yeast (bacteria). Pregnant women also often become greedy-rich sugar or white flour containing foods. These sugars and refined carbohydrates increase the risk of further yeast infections.

While the yeast infection is unlikely to cause problems in the unborn child is in the best interests of mother and child is clear that in a safe and comfortable environment.

Symptoms

Symptoms of yeast infection pregnancy generally built during 1-3 days and include intense vaginal itching, irritation, pain, burning and redness of the vagina and a thick, white vaginal discharge.

Treatments

The first thing that you fight the yeast infection during pregnancy is to avoid wearing jeans, Legging, tights every day. Avoid combination cough medicines that contain several drugs and stay in a single product.

Boric acid can be very useful for women who had good results from more-than-counter anti-fungal drugs. This is a very mild acid that will not hurt you, but slightly changes the pH in the vagina to discourage the growth of yeasts and bacteria, allowing, of course, kept in check, to re-settle.

There are many different things that can disrupt the natural balance of the body. When taking antibiotics for a longer period of time may cause the body to become unbalanced and one of them can develop. Antibiotics can destroy the good bacteria in the body that regulates the fungus. When pH in the body are out of balance, it can also cause this nasty infection.

Men and Yeast Infection

Posted by Synd on February 21st, 2009

For many men yeast infection happens when the way they eat and live makes their bodies perfect hosts for the yeast bacteria. These then multiply way beyond their limits, and start to take over your body.

It is also known as candidiasis because the infection is caused by Candida fungus which is normally present in our body but imbalance in the body system allows Candida to grow out of control and leads to yeast infection. Infection may occur in moist areas of the body like the mouth and genital area which are the perfect home for the fungus.

Friendly bacteria that are present in the digestive tract keep Candida at low levels by feeding on the yeast. These friendly bacteria are killed by antibiotics, cortisone and chemotherapy, etc.

Men who are uncircumcised are at a greater risk of having a yeast infection because the skin folds of the foreskin are hard to keep clean, are moist, and can become a breeding ground for fungus. Also, men who are diabetic or have a disease or illness that lowers the immune system are also more at risk for contracting a yeast infection.

It is possible for men to get a yeast infection from sexual intercourse, but this doesn’t mean it is a sexually transmitted disease.

For some men yeast infection symptoms are similar to those in women: itching, irritation, slight discharge, sores on the foreskin, pain during sexual intercourse, and appearance of a white cheese-like material. Physically, it can cause dryness and itching of the skin. It can also cause digestive disorders and constipation.

The type of treatment you need, will depend on the type of yeast infection you have, although natural remedies have proven to very beneficial. Garlic, yogurt, tea tree oil, oregano oil, aloe vera and other home remedies have proven to be effective for men with yeast infection.

Medications may temporarily get rid of the symptoms and offer short-term relief, but the root cause of the problem, the yeast spores, remains and inevitably will lead to future outbreaks. If you find that the over the counter medications aren’t working or that your yeast infection is recurring you may need more effective treatment that only a doctor can prescribe.

Whilst you are treating men yeast infection, it is advisable to use a water soluble lubricating gel during sex and always wear condoms too, to avoid passing the infection onto your partner.

Whatever Happened To The Stomach Vacuum?

Posted by Synd on August 12th, 2008

How about a stomach exercise you can do while watching TV or sitting in front of a computer at work. This is an exercise that will tighten your abs in a dramatic way in just a few short weeks. It’s not uncommon for people to lose 2 to 3 inches in that time. The stomach vacuum is just that exercise. It’s a long forgotten stomach flattening exercise that can be done just about at any time and anywhere.

The main muscle that is engaged by this exercise is the transverse abdominal muscle which runs horizontally underneath you oblique muscles. The transverse abdominis muscle is basically what holds everything in, so by doing this one simple exercise you are tightening the abs and shrinking the waistline at the same time. Another reason to strengthen the transverse ab muscle is that it helps to eliminate lower back pain by stabilizing the spine and pelvis areas.

So what is the stomach vacuum? It’s pretty much what it sounds like. If you have ever sucked your stomach in for any reason, then you were basically doing the stomach vacuum. Now to actually do this stomach exercise correctly you need to suck your tummy in and picture pulling your belly button up and to the back toward your spine. Try to pull it in just as far as you can go and remember to breathe. It doesn’t matter if your sitting, kneeling or standing on your head. The stomach vacuum can be done in any position.

To start with try and hold it for 15 seconds then relax for about a minute. Now repeat it 2 more times. Over time you will want to increase the length of time you hold the vacuum position and increase the number of sets you do as well. Another option with this particular tummy flattening exercise is just to do it through out the day. Since you are not noticeably moving around you can sneak a set or two in at any time.

Do these everyday over the next couple of weeks and you will be absolutely amazed by the results.

Postmen wearing kilts?

Posted by Synd on August 11th, 2008

The kilt is something which many Scots and people of Scottish decent feel very strongly about.

It is not just a fashion symbol but an important part of our Scottish heritage. Ask almost anyone anywhere in the world what one symbol they think of when the word Scotland or Scottish is mentioned to them and they will respond either Tartan or the kilt.

Although most Scots do not not wear the kilt as part of their day to day clothing it is almost compulsory on special occasions such as weddings and other formal occasions. Here in Aberdeen where I live hundreds of students have been graduating from the two local universities and almost every male graduate has chosen to wear the kilt for the formal photos. Some of them may have not have been Scots by birth and their only real connection with Scotland has been through attending university in Aberdeen Scotland but they still wore the kilt.

The USA and Canada were amongst the first countries in the world to create a special tartan day to commemorate how important Scots have been in developing their country. Curiously the Scottish Parliament have yet to declare any special tartan day although there has been discussions about it for some years. However this may change in the near future as Scots recently elected a new government from the Scottish Nationalist Party which is perhaps more focused on preserving the Scottish Culture than our other parties. However this is not going to be an advert for this political party.

Despite the non recognition of Tartan Day by national government many of our towns and cities have agreed a day when they would celebrate the event. Each town or city will hold their own parades with kilted bagpipers marching down the main streets. A wonderful sight to behold (although not every one tends to appreciate the music of the traditional bagpipes).

Anyway back to the title about Postmen wearing kilts.

I have just heard today about a postman (are we allowed to use that term or should it be Postal Service Delivery Person?) who has been just launched a campaign to be allowed to wear a kilt when delivering mail as part of his official uniform. No, the postal service worker is not in Scotland but based in Lacey, Washington USA. Dean Peterson has sent around 1,000 letters to Postal Service union branches in every US State with photos of himself wearing a prototype official uniform kilt.

I have not seen the photos myself or know of any Scottish connection he may have as a reason for wearing the kilt but it seems to me to be a good opportunity for Scots across the USA to make a stand and support Dean in his campaign. Lets face it if Scots made the USA so special that President Woodrow Wilson stated

“Every line of strength in American history is a line colored with Scottish blood”.

who can stop Scots wearing their national costume at work.

Write to your local postal service managers and the union branches and tell them you would be proud to see people of Scots descent able to wear the kilt. Then come to our main website on ScottishJerk.com and make a comment to let us know what you have done.

Lets get the kilt being worn by Scots everywhere.

Morning Sickness in Pregnancy

Posted by Synd on August 11th, 2008

Why do some women get morning sickness and others do not? Despite all we know about medical science, there is no answer to this question. One thing is certain - some women do not experience morning sickness at all while others experience bouts of nausea throughout their pregnancy.

Pregnancy morning sickness is the term that has been coined to describe the feeling of nausea that most women experience when they are pregnant. More often than not, this affects women in the morning, although some women are affected at different times of the day. Doctors believe that the reason for morning sickness is the hormone fluctuations in the body. This can also be coupled with the body’s need to eliminate certain foods from the body and increase the intake of others. This can also account for food cravings that some women who are pregnant also experience.

Not all women get morning sickness. Some women will get it with one pregnancy, but not have morning sickness at all with the second pregnancy. Although the nausea is relate to the hormone fluctuations that occur during pregnancy, there can be many reasons why someone might get morning sickness.

In the 1950s, a drug was prescribed to help women with morning sickness. This drug was approved for use in many countries, including the United Kingdom and Canada. Despite intense pressure from the pharmaceutical companies, the head of the FDA at the time would not approve the drug for use in the United States. The drug was soon found to cause physical birth defects in babies whose mothers took Thalidomide during their pregnancy. Since that tragic time, there has not been a drug that has been offered to quell the effects of morning sickness.

Some doctors feel that the morning sickness can be caused by the vitamins that women take when they are pregnant. Most women are prescribed vitamins when they are expecting. Some women are also prescribed iron as well. These can contribute to morning sickness. If a woman has severe bouts of morning sickness, a doctor will usually adjust her vitamin intake. While it is important to stay in good health during pregnancy and vitamins help your baby, you also have to be able to eat and keep your body in good shape. Excessive vomiting will cause dehydration. If you find that you cannot keep food or liquids down, you should talk to your doctor.

For the most part, morning sickness subsides after about the 16th week of pregnancy. It is not dangerous and is more of a nuisance than anything else. Some things that you can do to stave off morning sickness is to eat smaller meals and take herbal teas such as peppermint tea and ginger tea, both of which have natural curing powers to relieve nausea that accompanies morning sickness.
